Newly Revamped Climate Finance Data Portal Now Online

The newly revamped Climate Finance Data Portal captures information with helpful explanations, graphics and figures for a better understanding of climate finance flows. It also serves as a gateway to information on activities funded in developing countries to implement climate action.

The online data portal presents information on financial flows that have been channeled, mobilized and leveraged by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in their role as the operating entities of the UNFCCC’s Financial Mechanism. It also presents information on Adaptation Fund (AF) project data related to entities, projects and programmes as approved by the AF Board.

Now with only a few clicks, Parties, stakeholders and other users can easily navigate this one-stop open data source to track climate finance channeled to developing countries through the GEF, GCF and AF. It also aims to serve as a helpful tool to easily fetch data on mitigation and adaptation projects and programmes, including by country, amount, theme, sector, funding type, status, duration of project, and access modality.

Moreover, the newly added GCF Module is organized in five sub-modules. The first sub-module is equipped with an interactive map that will enable users to retrieve the data by country. The second sub-module presents data on the readiness and preparatory support programme and projects. The third and fourth sub-modules contain data on programmes and projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to both adapt to and build resilience to climate change. The fifth sub-module presents data on programmes and projects financed through the private sector facilities.

The development of the modules on the online portal is a joint effort between the secretariats of the UNFCCC, GCF, GEF and AFB.
